Cabot’s Skills 4 Bills® reaches record numbers

Our Skills 4 Bills® programme, which gives Key Stage 2 (age 9-11) children awareness of the financial commitments and decisions they will face during their lives, has experienced a record 12 months.

The highly engaging game which aims to provide young students with an insight into the consequences of poor financial choices and the indebtedness it can cause, was created in our Kings Hill Office by our Cabot Financial colleagues. Over the last 12 months we’ve been delighted to launch sessions across our Wescot, Orbit and DLC locations, which has seen children in Telford, Hull and Scotland benefit from the experience.

In this academic year (2024/2025), we have now reached over 2,000 children with our additional locations creating greater opportunities to make a difference.

A Headteacher from a Primary School in Kent shared her view on our recent partnership:

"I genuinely thought the workshop was one of the best I have been a part of! The structure and organisation of the workshop was superb - very thought-out and carefully planned. I thought the resources/worksheets provided by the team were of top quality and this allowed the pupils to get a lot out of the session as they could all access the resources etc

I thought the amount of adults present was also a big positive in terms of the workshop as they were able to keep the learning moving quickly and all pupils were able to receive support when needed. I would love to have the workshop visit us again! I would also add that it was really easy to host- you literally did everything and that can make such a difference in a school day. Your team were really approachable and engaging with the children, and the interactions were really well pitched for 10 and 11 year olds- as evidenced in their take-aways from their session with your team!"

If you are not familiar with Skills 4 Bills®, Programme Coordinator Cliff Ellis explains what we do and its impact in this short video.

Fellow Programme Coordinator Katy Camp told us more about what makes the programme popular with schools and our colleagues who volunteer:

“Better educating the children of today to make better choices is a real privilege. We invest a couple of hours with a class or group but the impact of that couple of hours can last a lifetime. That’s a wonderful opportunity to be involved in.”

None of this would be possible without the dedication of our programme leaders and their pods. We owe them a huge amount of thanks for their effort, passion and drive. They are:

Kent: Katy Camp, Cliff Ellis, Amy Ford, Alexis Ingram, Beverley Smith

Hull: Kerry Barker-Eagle, Orjan Pettersen, Katy Slight, Gemma McBride

Telford: Jonno Jackson, Tom Bennett, Katherine Lyttle, Sophie Phillips, Hazel Housden

Scotland: Leah Ralton, Henry Watson, Gordon Hogg, Helen McCallum

We would also like to thank the huge number of volunteers who join them in the schools to deliver each session. We are looking forward to another brilliant year helping educate in our local communities, with bookings for sessions flying in.

With over 600 children booked in already for academic year 2025/26, we hope to continue going from strength to strength in supporting financial education in our community.
